To the tune of a new mix Leah created, Victoria drove the one and a half hours to the lake district. In a rather podunk part of their state, at the base of a chain of ski-ready mountains, sat a glistening, freshwater lake surrounded by rich people’s summer homes. Leah’d never been there, only driven through on the way to another place, but seen enough photos to know of its beauty. The Lockwood summer house appeared fairly modest for the area. Not a gaudy McMansion, but a luxurious cabin attempting to imitate being rustic. It boasted seven bedrooms—Leah counted as Victoria brought her to theirs—and at least five bathrooms. A spacious great room with a fireplace, a full kitchen, a hot tub out on a giant deck, a small, private pool, and a game room.

Truly how the other half lived.

“There are a couple kayaks down by the dock, and we own a pair of rowboats. If you felt like going out on the water while we’re here,” Victoria explained, pointing out of the glass back doors toward the shore. Without having to sneak around as they did at home, Victoria looked more relaxed. Of course, pictures of her family hung everywhere, including the pointed gaze of her mother, but Leah could see she’d left most of her tension behind.

Leah gently lifted Victoria’s hair over her shoulder, pressing kisses from her bare shoulder, up her neck, to the outer shell of ear. “With all due respect to this big-ass house? I don’t want to see any other room but your bedroom for no less than a minimum of three hours.”

Victoria took her hand and pulled her up the staircase, back toward the bedrooms. “Is that so?” she asked, walking backward down the hallway. “No sightseeing, then?”

“No, cariño,” Leah said, plastering a big smirk on her face. “Only spelunking.”

With Victoria’s palm flat on her sternum, she got unceremoniously shoved into the bedroom, laughing and stumbling inside. Absolutely worth saying, as the fierce blush on Victoria’s face, in combination with the indignation, had her nearly doubled over with laughter. She flopped back onto the bed and Victoria vaulted her and pinned her to the bedsheets. Bracketing her arms on either side of Leah’s head, she kissed the tip of Leah’s nose.

“I love you,” she murmured, placing another kiss on her lips. “Despite the fact that you’re lewd.”

“You like that I’m lewd.”

Victoria hummed, sinking her teeth into Leah’s shoulder. “Shut up and get to that spelunking, Vasquez.”
